RIC One-on-One Conversations
At the Congregational Meeting, it was shared that we are beginning the discernment process of becoming what is known as a Reconciling in Christ (RIC) congregation. As part of this process, we will work with Reconciling Works, a national organization that partners with churches, synods, and other ministries throughout the ELCA to help better communicate who we are as a church and to be clear about what we mean when we say “All are welcome!”
This process will include developing a welcome statement and making commitments as a church concerning matters of full inclusion and participation in the life of the church regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
To be clear, becoming a RIC Congregation is not changing who we are as a church. Welcome, inclusion, and full participation in the life of the church is already who we are at Hope Lutheran. Instead, this process is a way for us to better communicate that message of welcome and ultimately to share the love of God in Jesus Christ we experience through our church to the broader community.
Becoming a Reconciling in Christ(RIC) congregation begins with a One-on-One conversation between you and a member of the core team. We want to share more with you about the process, discuss what welcome looks like at Hope, answer your questions, and hear your thoughts on Hope becoming a RIC Congregation.
Below is a link for you to sign up. (Please note, these are One-on-One conversations. Couples, please sign up for individual time slots.)There are a variety of dates and times. If none of the time slots work for you, please get in touch Pastor Keith, and we will schedule a time with a core team member.
